CSIR SO ASO Selection Process
The Selection Process for the post of Section Officer and Assistant Section Officer under CSIR recruitment has the following Stages:
For Section Officers, stage 1 involves objective-type Paper 1 and Paper 2 exams, followed by a second stage comprising a Descriptive Paper 3. The final stage for Section Officers includes a personal interview.
On the other hand, Assistant Section Officers undergo a Stage 1 evaluation with objective-type Paper 1 and Paper 2, followed by Stage 2 involving Descriptive Paper 3. The third and concluding stage for Assistant Section Officers is a Computer Proficiency Test (CPT).

Selection Process For the post of Section Officer SO
| (i) | Final Select/Wait List will be prepared considering the number of vacancies and total marks obtained by the candidates, subject to securing the minimum threshold marks. |
| (ii) | Candidates who secure the minimum threshold marks in aggregate out of 350 marks (Paper – I and Paper – II) will be called for Paper III (Descriptive Paper). |
| (iii) | The total marks for the post of Section Officer (Gen/F&A/S&P) will be 600. |
| (iv) | Final Select/Wait List will be prepared keeping in view the number of vacancies and total marks obtained by the candidates, subject to securing the minimum threshold marks. |
Selection Process For the post of Assistant Section Officer
| (i) | Candidates who secure the minimum threshold marks in aggregate out of 350 marks (Paper – I and Paper – II) will be called for Paper-III (Descriptive Paper) and Computer Proficiency Test (CPT). CPT is Qualifying in nature and Marks obtained in CPT will not be counted towards final marks. |
| (ii) | The total marks for the post of Assistant Section Officer (Gen/F&A/S&P) will be 500, excluding CPT. |
| (iii) | Final Select/Wait List will be prepared keeping in view the number of vacancies and total marks obtained by the candidates, subject to securing the minimum threshold marks and qualifying marks in CPT |
CSIR SO ASO Exam Pattern
